This property has been exploited in memory devices. On the other hand, paraelectric materials do not show electric polarization and are utilized as an insulator in silicon-based devices. A recent experiment reported that a terahertz-field pulse could induce the ferroelectric transition in quantum paraelectric SrTiO3. This observation suggests that light makes the ultrafast control of phase transition possible. In this work, we theoretically demonstrated terahertz field-induced ferroelectric transition in SrTiO3 by solving the Schrodinger-Langevin equation based on the first-principle calculations.
