- Doctoral Program
– Comprehensive evaluation of master’s research content, basic knowledge in the major field, research enthusiasm, qualifications as a researcher, and language proficiency through individual interviews, including an English presentation and Q&A on research results
– English Presentation on Master’s Research Results (10 minutes) + Basic Major Knowledge Test (10 minutes)

- Open Lab
- Purpose: To provide information about the department and assist in lab selection for prospective students before each admission round, through department and lab introductions, lab tours, Q&A with current students, and meetings with interested professors
- Schedule: Held just before the application period for each admission round (in April, June, or October); detailed schedule will be separately announced on the department website during the relevant period
- Eligibility: Any student interested in physics and photonics-related research can attend, regardless of their major or department.

- Support Provided: Round-trip transportation expenses (based on express bus fare between university location and Gwangju), souvenir

- [Open Lab Application Shortcut]
- Internship
- Purpose: To provide an opportunity for university students in their 3rd-4th year (GIST students in their 2nd-4th year) who are interested in pursuing studies in the Department of Physics and Photon Science to gain 3 weeks of research experience in a graduate lab during the summer and winter breaks
- Schedule: For 3 weeks in January and July each year; detailed schedule will be separately announced on the department website during the relevant period
- Eligibility: Any student currently enrolled in their 3rd year or above at another university, or their 2nd year or above at GIST, or any graduate, who is interested in physics and photon science-related research, regardless of their major or department.
- How to Apply: Online application available on the GIST Graduate Admissions website (http://www.gist.ac.kr/gadm/) starting three weeks before the event
- Support Provided: Internship support fee, dormitory fee, round-trip transportation expenses (based on express bus fare between university location and Gwangju), internship completion certificate, souvenir
